Thanksgiving Parade

A tree works to grow, its roots reaching down low in this world that you made

The fight’s hidden and slow, the fruit finally shows in its outstretched shade

And I watch so amazed as the wonders of your grand parade

In an endless line pass by my place where I lift up my voice in praise

In this world that you made

The sun rises on time it knows when to shine in this world that you made

The earth spins on a dime and follows a line in the path that you’ve laid

And I watch so amazed as the wonders of your grand parade

In an endless line pass by my place where I lift up my voice in praise

In this world that you made

Kittens frolic and purr, tease and pounce, groom their fur, they’re made for play

The resourceful bird, fashions shelter from dirt, scraps, and throw-aways

And I watch so amazed as the wonders of your grand parade

In an endless line pass by my place where I lift up my voice in praise

In this world that you made

You’re nurturing, surprising, every need providing wearing love on your face

You bring shame out of hiding, make it something shining with the work of your grace

And I watch so amazed as the wonders of your grand parade

In an endless line pass by my place where I lift up my voice in praise

In this world that you made

You’re the joy and the laughter, the beautifying factor in the grind of our days

You give strength to bend and stretch, permission to refresh, to rest, and steal away

And I watch so amazed as the wonders of your grand parade

In an endless line pass by my place where I lift up my voice in praise

In this world that you made

Leah Morgan

Leah was sidelined from her congressional aspirations when her mother bargained like a politician herself and offered paid tuition in exchange for her attending a year’s worth of Bible College. Leah complied, ended up completing that three year course, and eventually settled for enacting and enforcing laws upon her three children. Her husband, Bonnard, is the President of this union and sometimes of the same party line. They live in an ancient home in a small Maryland town where George Washington probably slept or picked his wooden teeth or something.
