What’s Love Got To Do With It?

What’s love got to do with it?

Everything!

Tina Turner recorded her most successful song with the above title. If you remember the lyrics from this 1984 hit you will know it’s a far cry from the songs she must have sung in her Tennessee church choir.

What’s love got to do with it?

Everything!

In Eccl. 3:11 we read that God has “. . . planted eternity (a sense of divine purpose) in the human heart (a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God)—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end. (Amp. Version)

God put a place in each of our hearts that can only be filled with Him. We cannot begin to grasp the plan He designed—from beginning to end—that allows us to live with Him for eternity.

“For God so loved (greatly) loved and dearly prized the world, that He (even) gave His (One and) only begotten son, so that whoever believes and trust in Him (as Savior) shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 Amp. Version)

What’s love got to do with it?

Everything!

God gave His only Son who He greatly loved to take our place and die on the cross for our sins so that we could be in His presence and live with Him for eternity. He must have loved us a lot, He gave His Son.

What’s love got to do with it?

Everything!

Jesus obeyed the Father, even to the cross, and died in our place. “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even on a cross.” (Phil 2:8 ESV) He must have loved us a lot, for He gave Himself.

What’s love got to do with it?

EVERYTHING!

“Greater love has no one than this,
that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
(John 15:13 ESV)
