Look Up

I caught this video while performing my 11:13 browsing of the internet, which followed my 11:05 browsing of the internet. In between, of course, I check my facebook page. Take a look. I think you may find it eye-opening.

From a Christian point of view, I wonder what kind of relationships we’re missing because of the constant noise of the world around us. We immerse ourselves in our technology, even claiming to reach more people thanks to the miracle of the internet.

I suggest that we’ve lost more than we’ve gained. Speaking to ten-thousand people via facebook and twitter is insignificant when compared to making one real friend, meeting the eyes of someone hurting, or laying a hand on the arm of a sick friend.

Maybe it really is time to leave the iPhone at home for an afternoon stroll through the neighborhood. Who knows, you may just make one new friend. And that is worth more than all the technology you can own.

I am a husband, dad, Christian, and writer. Not necessarily in that order. It took me thirty years to turn my life over to my Redeemer. It's taken another ten to figure out what it is He has in store for me. My first novel, Now I Knew You, will be released in March, 2015. I pray that God will allow me to write many more before calling me home.
