I Do Declare

Everything I know about declarations comes from Aunt Bea of The Andy Griffith Show. In short I considered, “I do declare,” as a quaint manner of speaking used in the rural South. Steve Backlund’s ministry team at Ignitinghope.com offer a more dynamic, vital, and experiential view of declarations in their new book; Declarations Unlocking Your Future.

The power of the tongue is a force Jesus, the Apostle James, and the Apostle Paul, among others, encourage us to examine, and this book gives a very step by step approach to learning to hear for ourselves what we say to ourselves.

The question the book poses is, “What would happen if we dramatically increased speaking truth into our lives for 30 days?’ Additionally, as a way of measuring and increasing the impact the experiment, a free 30 day subscription to daily support toward the goal of speaking 100 encouraging declarations a day is available at the group’s website. For additional information you can contact the group at info@ignitinghope.com.

The 30 day experiment runs from June 20 through July 19, and since one of those days happens to be my birthday I am already considering this opportunity as a gift straight out of heaven. I hope you do the same!

  1. I do declare, Will, great concept and experiment. Love the Andy Griffith show and Aunt Bea. It’s definitely worth our being intentional to speak truth. Thanks.
